I have a corn allergy, so I have trouble with anything packaged, canned, or bottled. I thought you'd be surprised to know that most of the citric acid out there used as you describe is not derived from lemons! Hence the non-lemony flavor. It's mostly sucrose derived from corn used to feed a mold. There's info about it on the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citric_acid#Discovery_and_production" rel="nofollow">Wikipedia page</a>.<br /><br />Glad you came to the decision not to use it!
